Benson started playing rugby when she started college at Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State, she helped lead her team to five National Championships. She quickly showcased her talent for the sport and was named a Collegiate All-American (15s) in 2014 and 2015.She is currently in graduate school at Life West University where she has assisted her team to three National Championships
She completed in the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup in Ireland and notes that as her highest rugby achievement thus far.
She heads into the Women's Rugby Super Series with 17 test caps.
