England v Scotland | Key moments

England secured back-to-back 6Nations victories by securing a narrow one point victory over Scotland to snap a four game losing streak in the Calcutta Cup. Here some key moments from the match.

4 mins: A line break by Duhan van der Merwe found created a scoring oppurtunity that saw Scotland complete 1 offload and three passes in the build up to Ben Whites try.

5 mins: Russel fails to add the extra two points.

9 mins: England score through a Tommy Freeman carry

12mins: Blair Kinghorns pass goes out of bounds ending a promising Scotland attack that stemme from a lineout. A real momentum killer.


17 mins: England flanker Tom Curry went down and was tended to by the team physio.

18 mins: A turnover won by Scottish hooker Dave Cherry resulted in a penalty, that saw Finn Russell find touch for a lineout. The resulting line up allowed Scotland to set up a set piece identical to the first one that led to the first try. However this time, they were rewarded with a second one. Scotland making the right calls in the right positions.


29 mins: Scotland knock the ball on in the England 22 after 16 attacking phases 

36 mins: Tom Willis goes off after taking a heavy knock and was swiftly replaced by Ben Curry as he was taken for a head injury assesment. Willis never returned

38 mins: Poor decision making saw Scotland concdeed a third turnover in the space of 4 mins, all in Englands 22.

40+1 mins: Try saving tackle by Duhan van der Merwe on Marcus Smith saves Scotland from conceding at the halftime mark.

46 mins: Tom curry eventually goes off limping and is replaced by Chandler Cunningham-South, thus marking the second major blow to the roses

50 mins: Fin Smith makes a momentum shifting tackle on Tom Jordan and up until this point, has made the most tackles on the England team.

52 mins: Elliot Daly exposes England with a 60m kick that finds touch with no one in the English defense in position. The do however lose the ensuing lineout.

55 mins: Englands Marcus Smith brings England level with a 32m kick at goal.

59 mins: Maro Itoje wins a turnover for Engand in their own 5, halting a fueled Scotland attack. However Scotland captain Finn Russell was not happy believing the England skipper was off his feet.

63 mins: Jamie Ritchie secures his third steal of the game, killing English momentum having made every breakdown a contest for the home side.

64 mins: Kyle Rowe escapes a yellow card after a review for a dangerous tackle, instead England are given the penalty and they find touch in the Scottish 22. 

65 mins: Scotland concede a penalty in their 22, and Marcu Smith makes them pay by handing England the lead with a converted kick at goal. England earn their first lead of the game.

70 mins: Finn Smith knocks over another penalty for England, this time from 48 meteres extending the English lead.

73 mins: Scotland win a penalty from a kickable position but opt for the corner. A gamble that did not pay off as the Scotts would lose the ensuing lineout.

74 mins: A charge down block by Scotland brings them right back on the attack.

76 mins: England's defense again keeps out the Scotts, driving them backwards out of their 22, and forcing an error out of the visitors resulting in penalty for the roses.

78 mins: One set piece from a breakdown in the Scotland half saw Stafford McDowell break the line and charge down the field to create a try for the visitors that was finished by none other than Duhan van der Merwe.

79 mins: Finn Russell misses his third conversion of the match failing to give Scotland the one point lead.
