Joe Apikotoa left Melbourne Storm and joined Hutt Old Boys Marist in New Zealand instead.
Stints at blindside flanker and No 8 underlined his versatility but it's at prop where Apikotoa was rapidly introduced by Wellington in 2015.
He became a regular in the Wellington Mitre 10 Cup squad.
Apikotoa made the switch to the Hawke's Bay Magpies for the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup season.
He re-signed with the side for the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup season following an impressive 2 seasons.
