Nutton trained with Edinburgh in the 2019/20 season while being part of Super 6 club Heriot's squad.
The scrum-half was named in the Edinburgh squad for the first time as the capital side opened their 2019/20 Challenge Cup campaign away to Agen in November 2019.
As of June 2020, he has only made one appearance for the Scottish side.
