Marais’s accurate goal-kicking is complemented by his ability to play close to the advantage line and to break the advantage line. This has resulted in three tries to the former Waterkloof HS and Blue Bulls Academy u.18 player.
He went on to represent the Bulls in Currie Cup and the Vodacom but the competition for the starting flyhalf position meant that Marais was loaned out to the Kings in 2016.
At the completion of his loan spell Marais signed a deal with the Pumas for the 2017 season.
