Martin came through the ranks of Counties Manukau and got his opportunity to play for the senior squad in 2016 Mitre 10 Cup.
He took advantage of injuries to key players and established himself as a key member of the squad that went to the semi-finals of the competition.
Martin joined up with the Chiefs squad shortly before the 2017 Super Rugby season to provide cover at lock.
In May 2018, Matiaha made his Super Rugby debut against the Crusaders in a local Super Rugby derby at Eden Park.
He went on to make another 3 appearances for the Auckland based side.
