Having made his first class debut for Western Province in 2001, Seconds performed on the international stage with the Springbok Sevens team, playing in eight World Series tournaments.
He earned 11 Stormers caps – 10 in 2003, and another in 2007, and was included in a South Africa 'A' squad for their end-of-year tour to Argentina in 2004, making two appearances and scoring three tries.
In 2014, Seconds took up refereeing, and after several months was included on the South African Rugby's Referees' Contenders Panel for 2015, taking charge of matches in the Community Cup and Group B of the Under-19 Provincial Championship.
Seconds has been appointed to the refereeing panel for the 2017 Super Rugby season.
