Springboks' Player Ratings vs Portugal

After two gruelling tests against the Irish, the Springboks took on Portugal in a very one sided affair that saw the world champions run out comfortable 64-21 victors. The Springbok matchday 23 saw seven debutants in the squad, with three of the debutants in the starting line up. We take a look at the player ratings in todays match.
1 – Jan-Hendrik Wessels (Bulls)
Rating: 8.5
The prop scored a try in his debut, and was extremely efficient in the scrum.
2 – Johan Grobbelaar (Bulls) – uncapped
Rating: 8
The Bulls hooker was solid in the scrums, as well as the lineouts winning all of his lineouts.
6 – Phepsi Buthelezi (Sharks)
Rating:8.5
A force at the breakdown, Buthelezi also put his name on the board, scoring a try off the back of a maul.
16 – Andre-Hugo Venter (Stormers)
Rating: 8
The Stormers hooker came on in the 58th minute, and made an immediate impact, becoming the third player on the day to score on their debut.
19 – Ruan Venter (Lions)
Rating: 7.8
Venter was a force at the breakdown, dominating the rucks at will ensuring the ball was always secured for the home side.
21 – Morne van den Berg (Lions)
Rating: 7.8
The scrum-half came on for Cobus Reinach, and definitely took control of the game, distributing the ball and making a strong impact pairing alongside Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu who was earning his fourth cap.
23 – Quan Horn (Lions)
Rating: 7
Horn was a constant threat on attack running good lines and gaining metres. His defense was also to be lauded. However, his debut was stained when he was yellow carded.
