Saturday's Super Rugby Top Performers
- 2024
The Sharks got back to winning ways today, while the Waratahs claimed an important win in Canberra.
Here are our Top Performers from the first two Super Rugby clashes of the day:
Jean-Luc du Preez
The Springbok flanker was outstanding against the Blues in the Auckland. He made 14 tackles and two turnovers.
He also had a brilliant game on attack scoring one try, assisting another and making a stellar offload in the build up for another.
He beat 7 defenders and made 39 running metres.
Robert du Preez
Jean-Luc's older brother scored 38 points against the Blues!
He converted all 13 of his shots at goal and even added a try and two try assists to his tally.
George Moala
Moala put in a good shift for the Blues having been dropped from the starting line up to accommodate Rieko Ioane in the centres.
He made 112 running metres beat 9 defenders, made 1 clean break, scored 1 try and assisted another.
Curwin Bosch
The Sharks fullback topped the running metres in the clash making 116 metres, beating 6 defenders and collecting 3 clean breaks.
He scored a wonderful try at the end of the match and made important clearances from fullback.
David Pocock
The breakdown king returned in fine form for the Brumbies despite going down to the Waratahs.
He won 3 clean turnovers for the Brumbies but was consistently winning penalties for his side and troubled the Waratahs maul throughout the game.
Kurtley Beale
Beale, alongside Foley, questioned the Brumbies defence throughout the match with the pair exchanging the first receiver role throughout the clash.
The playmaker made only 28 running metres but it was clever decision making and kicking game that saw the Waratahs to victory.
Taqele Naiyaravoro
The Waratahs lost Israel Folau to injury early on in the match but Naiyaravoro stepped up to score two important tries for the Waratahs.
The first of which saw the big winger brush Henry Speight off on his way to the try line and the second he run a great support line to receive the ball metres from the line and just needed to dot down.
He made over 100 running metres, beating 4 defenders and making one clean break.
