Educated at Newington College, in Sydney’s inner-west, Lachie played his junior rugby for the Epping Rams and was an Australian Schoolboys representative in 2005. The following year Turner joined the HSBC Waratah Academy, and a sparkling run of form saw him awarded the inaugural Chris Whitaker Aspiring Waratah Award at season’s end.In the 2007 tournament, he earned his first Super Rugby cap in round seven against the Stormers in Sydney, going on to play every match in the remainder of the year. His head-turning debut season was capped off when he won the Super Rugby Rookie of the Year award and received a call up to the Australia-A side to play Tonga in Sydney. In that game, Turner was awarded man of the match after turning in a breakthrough three-try performance. And he didn’t have to wait long to achieve even higher honours, making his Wallabies debut in 2008 against France in Brisbane. He was a member of the 2010 Rugby Sevens squad that won silver at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. After a few seasons in Super Rugby, Turner made his way to Toulon as World Cup cover in 2015. In early 2016 he announced he would be joining Exeter Chiefs for the remainder of the 2015/16 season
