Carr has represented Ireland at Schools, Under 19's, under 21's and at A level and can play as a winger or fullback. After finishing college Carr signed for Connacht. Carr was the top try-scorer for Connacht during the Magners League 2008/09 campaign, scoring more tries than the rest of the squad put together making him joint top try-scorer in the league that year. He is Connacht's all time top try-scorer with 34 tries to date. Carr joined Leinster for the start of the 2011/12 season making his debut against Ospreys. However returned to Connacht for the 2013/14 season
