Between 2012 and 2016,Nicolas Freitas played Carrasco Polo Club which is a Uruguayan sports club from the Carrasco neighbourhood of Montevideo
In January 2017, he signed his first professional contract with Argentine side Jaguares
He then opted to come back home to play for Peñarol in the 2020−2021 Super Liga Americana.
At the end of 2021 season, Nicolas Freitas signed for French Pro D2 team Vannes. In his first season he played 8 games and scored 3 tries.
In the 22/23 season, he played 23 games starting 18 and scoring 1 try for Vannes.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Freitas has been named in the squad for Uruguay.
