Sale Sharks and England winger Tom Roebuck has committed his future to his boyhood club by signing a new two-year contract.
The 24-year-old, who began his rugby journey at Chester Rugby Club before joining the Sharks Academy, made his first team debut against Worcester in the Premiership Rugby Cup in 2018.
He has gone on to make almost 100 Sharks appearances, scoring 39 tries, including six in this season’s Gallagher Premiership.
Tom made his England debut against Japan in the 2024 summer tour, and scored his first international try against the same opposition at Twickenham in the recent Autumn Series. This week he was named in England’s squad for the upcoming Guinness Six Nations.
Tom said: “I’ve grown up in and around Manchester and I’ve been at the club since I was 14 or 15. I’m playing every week with a group of close mates who I’ve played with for a long time and that’s what makes this club so special.
“I’m loving it here but I can’t say we’re living the dream because we haven’t won anything yet. We’ve been close twice and it still hurts that we didn’t manage to convert our chances.
“The coaches have a clear plan in mind and we’re all buying into it and whether it’s this year or next year, I know that as a group that we’re capable of taking the next step together and winning the Premiership.
“My brother comes to every game, my parents are season ticket holders and it means the world to play for a club that is so important to my whole family. Staying here was a no-brainer.”
Al said: “We’re absolutely buzzing to have secured Tom for at least the next two years. He's got so much talent, he’s one of our own and I firmly believe this is the best place for his development and I know he feels the same way.
“The improvement we’ve seen from Tom in every aspect of his game in the last three years has been incredible and he’s been rewarded with the international recognition he absolutely deserves.
“He's a massive part of our present and our future and I hope his best years in a Sale Sharks shirt are still to come.”
