Leinster v Clermont match preview
- 99
Leinster will take on Clermont at Aviva stadium in round 2 of the Champions Cup on Saturday 14 december.
Leinster
The hosts will want to build on a strong performance from last weekend after running riot against the Bristol Bears (35-12). The match looked like it would be a tight affair after the scores was 7 all at half time but two tries from Sam Prendergast and one a piece from Jordie Barrett and Josh van der Flier gave Leinster a strong start in the Champions Cup. One area Clermont could capatalize on is gaining meters from Leinsters ill discipline. They conceded 17 penalties against Bristol and with Clermont scoring a few maul tries against Benetton in round 1, that is one aread the French team would like to target.
Clermont
They are usually called the yellow army but against Benetton in round 1 they played in grey but that made now difference as they beat the Italian team 28-0. Four converted tries were too much for Benetton as they crumbled from the power of the Clermont forwards. Every maul and scrum Clermont made meters. One area Leinster could focus on is the Clermont defence. They only made 81% of their tackles against Benetton.
