Full-Time: Clermont dug deep to get a win tonight against a resilient Sale Sharks. The poor weather conditions wreaked havoc in both halves, forcing many knock-ons and errors. In the second half, it was the hosts that started brighter with some good attacking possession. Some luck came their way with a penalty try and two yellow cards for the French outfit in the space of four minutes. Unfortunately, this spell of good play would pass with Clermont's superior intensity and fitness coming through in the latter stages. The boot of Lopez and Fritz Lee's try five minutes from time secured the win on the road for Clermont. While Sale were imperious at times, they were overpowered in the final minutes.
