Born in Ballinora in Cork, Poland started playing his rugby Sundays Well, his dad also played for the club and had a spell at London Irish.
Poland went to school in Presentation Brothers College and captained the senior cup team, originally playing flyhalf, but then converted to scrum-half.
Having been capped at Ireland U19 & U20 level, he joined the Munster sub-Academy in July 2015 before signing on as a full academy member.
Poland studied Finance in UCC and made his Munster senior team debut in the PRO14 against Zebre in February 2018.
In August 2019, he signed for New England Free Jacks.
