Zach is from Redding, California but moved with his family to Tauranga, New Zealand when he was nine months old.
He attended Tauranga Boys’ College in Tauranga, New Zealand and played rugby while there. He then played with the Greerton Colts in 2015 and later Greerton Marist in the Bay of Plenty Premier Club Rugby competition. He also played representative rugby in the Ellis Shield U45kg competition.
In 2018 he was named Player of the Year for Greerton Marist and also played for the Waikato U85kg side.
In 2019 he also played for Bay of Plenty Development.
2020 saw him sign a deal with Houston Sabercats.
