Began his domestic career playing for the Denver Barbarians. Internationally, Smith earned his first cap November 2008, in a win against Uruguay.
He signed with Saracens of the Premiership before eventually leaving for a career in the National Football League.
Following his release, Smith rejoined Saracens.
