Marais currently plays his club rugby in France and has done so for a number of years after age group games for Western Province and Currie Cup experience at the Pumas. Debuting for Namibia in 2010 the 100+kg winger represented his country in the 2011 World Cup and was included in the squad for the 2015 tournament
