Clarke's Defence Proves Worthy

In the end it was a try in the last minute by Gerbrandt Grobler that put the nail in the coffin. However, like they say the best form of attack is defence and a strong defensive effort by Freddie Clark only secure the victory for his side but also win him Man of The Match. Cobus Reinach also put in a hearty defensive shift that had many on social media chatting.

Another Top Performer tonight was Tom Wood and Billy Twelvetrees

Freddie Clark - Gloucester

The big utility forward was truly inspirational tonight, his 1,96m and 114kg frame was a stop sign for the opposition as they just could not break through. There was only one man who was going to lose the battle whenever he went into contact and that man was not him. As a result, he provided himself as an attacking option with strong carries.

Cobus Reinach - Northampton Saints

His performance tonight will have his international coach scratches his head and doubting Reinach's exclusion. Always one to rise to the occasion, Reinach did not disappoint on defence. It was his great turn of pace in the opening stages of the second half that set social media abuzz as he started and ended this scoring move.

Billy Twelvetrees - Gloucester

Another player with international games to his belt, Twelvestrees proved why he managed to amass 20 games for the English in the height of his career in 2013. He was very good in midfield and converted the last kick in the 81st minute that gave Gloucester a nail biting victory.

Tom Wood - Northampton Saints

Capped 50 times for England, the man who first made his senior appearance for North Otago was all over the park tonight. Woods constantly disrupted the Gloucester lineout and turned the ball over on two very crucial times in the game. A strong contender for man of the match and probably misses out because of being in the losing side.
