A strong second half by the Highlanders sees them run out 44-28 home winners over the Waratahs after they trailed 14-13 at the break. An early yellow card for the Waratahs in the second half saw the Highlanders capitalize with two quick tries to lead 23-14. The hosts crossed again before the Waratahs responded with a try to get themselves back into the match as they trailed 30-21. However, another two quick tries by the Highlanders wrapped up the match, but a late Waratahs try denied the hosts a bonus point.
