Scotland take a 12-3 lead over Italy into halftime. Despite some early attacking opportunities for Scotland, it was Italy who opened the scoring with a penalty to lead 3-0. Scotland hit back shortly after with the games first try for a 5-3 advantage. The hosts made their possession and territorial dominance count with a second try to take a nine point lead into the break.
