Calafeteanu is one of the most experienced players in the Romanian squad, playing as a scrum-half or fly-half. His transition to senior rugby came at Dinamo Bucharest and after three national titles between 2004-2010 he moved to Arad and then Timisoara.
He became a national champion in 2011 and was the top point scorer in the domestic competition that year with 196 points.
In 2015 he was selected to represent Romania at his third Rugby World Cup, and was later called in to the squad for the 2017 Rugby Europe Championship.
