Originally from Matlock, the tighthead prop is a former England Under 16s international in 2010. He attended Highfields School in Derbyshire and has also played for Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire.
James joined the Leicester Tigers Academy in 2012 after three years in the Tigers scholarship programme having been spotted as part of the Tigers' Elite Player Development Group programme.
