NZ take a 22-13 lead over Wales into halftime. NZ slotted an early penalty and ran in two tries to race into a 17-0 lead midway through the half. Wales responded with a try of their own and they added a penalty around the half hour mark to reduce the deficit to 17-10. NZ crossed for a third try five minutes from halftime, but Wales kept within touching distance, kicking another penalty with the final play of the half.
