The Barbarians take a 19-11 lead over Eng into halftime. The Barbarians missed an early shot at goal, with Eng opened the scoring with a penalty after 16 minutes. The Barbarians hit back immediately with a penalty try, with Eng picking up a yellow card in the process. The Barbarians took advantage of their extra player and scored another try to lead 14-3. Eng then missed a shot at goal but were successful with a penalty after 34 minutes to close the gap. Eng then crossed for their first try to narrow the deficit to 14-11, with the Barbarians receiving a red card to be down a player for the remainder of the match. Despite being down a man, the Barbarians went over for a third try just before halftime to take an eight point lead into the break.
