Samuela Ononono Fatafehi Tawake, born on September 11, 1996, is a Fijian rugby union player who currently plays as a prop. He is currently a member of Rugby United New York (RUNY) in Major League Rugby (MLR) in the United States and also represents the Fiji national team.
Tawake joined Rugby United New York ahead of the 2021 Major League Rugby season, signing with the team in the United States. Prior to his stint in MLR, he played for Canterbury and Manawatu in the Mitre 10 Cup, a domestic competition in New Zealand. In 2020, he made his debut for Fiji during the Autumn Nations Cup.
Throughout his career, Tawake has achieved various milestones. He represented the Fijian Under 20 team in 2014, earning 32 caps. He also played for Canterbury in the New Zealand National Provincial Championship (NPC) in 2018 and later joined Manawatu from 2019 to 2022, competing in the NPC as well.
In 2020, he had the opportunity to represent the Flying Fijians during the Autumn Nations Cup.
In terms of achievements, Tawake was part of the Flying Fijians team that secured their first win in the Autumn Nations Cup against Georgia.
On a lighter note, it is worth mentioning that Tawake enjoys fishing as a hobby.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Tawake has been named in the training squad for Fiji.
