Due to the international honours won by his uncle’s(Alastair and Harry Jnr) and grandfather(Harry McKibbin) for Ireland , it was almost inevitable that Roger Wilson would become a professional rugby player. Wilson’s talent was clear from his school boy days at RBAI, where he won the 1998 and 2000 schools’ cup trophies.
Wilson made his Ulster debut against the Ospreys in 2003 and was a regular in the Ulster starting line up until he departed Ulster in 2008, when he signed for the Northampton Saints. Wilson’s game grew massively under Jim Mallinder at Northampton and Wilson was an integral part of the Franklins Garden’s clubs march to the 2011 Heineken Cup final.
In early 2012, Ulster stated that Wilson would rejoin them on a three year deal at the start of the 2012-2013. Wilson won his first Irish cap against Japan in 2005. Wilson made his 200th app for Ulster in Feb, 2016.
