Ollie Lawrence is an English professional rugby union player who currently plays as a centre for Bath in Premiership Rugby. He was born on September 18, 1999, in Birmingham, England.
Lawrence attended Old Swinford Hospital, a rugby-playing secondary school, before receiving a scholarship to attend Bromsgrove School for sixth form. He participated in football, cricket, and rugby during his youth. At the age of 15, he joined the Worcester Warriors academy.
He made his senior debut for the Worcester Warriors in November 2017, scoring a try on his first-team debut against Sale Sharks in the Anglo-Welsh Cup. Throughout the 2017-18 season, Lawrence made three first-team appearances and impressed for the Warriors Under 18s and Worcester Cavaliers, showcasing his talent and scoring abilities.
In the 2018-19 campaign, Lawrence continued to make progress, making fourteen senior appearances and scoring two crucial tries in EPCR Challenge Cup victories over Ospreys and Stade Français. He signed his first professional contract with Worcester on December 5, 2018, and was promoted to the senior squad for the 2019-20 season. During this season, he scored a hat-trick of tries in a European Challenge Cup match against Enisei-STM and scored a try on his first Premiership start against Wasps.
In May 2022, Lawrence was part of the Worcester Warriors side that won the 2022 Premiership Rugby Cup, securing Worcester's first-ever top-flight trophy. However, his contract with Worcester was terminated on October 5, 2022, due to the club's liquidation. He joined Bath on a short-term loan and later signed a long-term deal with the club in October 2022.
Lawrence's international career began at the U16 level, representing England against Wales and impressing with two tries and a man of the match performance. He went on to play for England U18s and England U20s, including appearances in the Six Nations tournaments. In 2018, he trained with the senior England squad ahead of their summer tour of South Africa.
He made his senior England debut on October 31, 2020, coming off the bench in their Six Nations match against Italy. Lawrence also made his first start for England in the opening round of the Autumn Nations Cup against Georgia. He has continued to be part of the England squad, earning further call-ups and making notable contributions to the team.
Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Lawrence has been named in the squad for England.
