So’oialo was one of just five players to play in 11 or more of the All Blacks 13 matches during the 2006 Test season.
He went on to make 62 test appearances for the All Blacks between 2002 and 2009.
So'oialo captained the Hurricanes through their successful 2006 Rebel Sport Super 14 season and played in every match.
After missing the entire 2011 Super Rugby season through injury, he signed in Japan with the Honda Heat for the 2011–12 season.
