Former Waratahs Defence Coach, Barakat, joined Ulster Rugby as Assistant Coach on a two-year contract in the summer of 2015.
The vastly experienced coach spent five years with the New South Wales franchise where he also worked as Academy Head Coach and Head Coach of the Junior Waratahs.
A former Head of PE at St. Patrick's College, Strathfield, he coached Australia Under 21s and has been employed as a technical consultant to the Fijian Rugby Union.
For five seasons he worked in Japan, first as Forwards and Defence Coach at NTT Communications Shining Arcs, before joining Toshiba Brave Lupus as Forwards, Attack and Defence Coach.
His particular focus is on the collision zone and he also worked closely with the Ulster Academy.
Barakat joined the Western Force in January 2017 as the Forwards and Breakdown Coach under Head Coach David Wessels. The team showed great success in their final year of operation, finishing second in the Australian table on equal wins with first place finishers (Brumbies).
After a year under at the Western Force, Barakat joined the Rebels as Forwards Coach before leaving in September 2018 for family reasons.
