Fisher had a number of roles in Canberra through his extensive career, one as academy coach in the early 2000s, and Brumbies’ head coach between 2005-08 before returning in 2012 as an assistant under Jake White, and then shared the coaching responsibilities with Stephen Larkham in 2014.
On 2 July 2014, Fisher left the Brumbies to join English team Gloucester Rugby as their new head coach, before resigning midway through his third season in charge.
His abrupt departure followed Gloucester’s capitulation against Harlequins, where they conceded 15 points in the final seven minutes to lose 30-27.
After a three-year hiatus, Laurie Fisher returned to the Brumbies for the 2018 season after signing on as an assistant coach under newly appointed coach Dan McKellar.
