Anthony Watson suffers broken jaw

England have suffered an injury blow ahead of the autumn internationals with Anthony Watson sustaining a broken jaw just a day after Sam Jones broke a leg in judo training.

Watson sustained the injury while on the England camp in Brighton and is now "likely to miss" the November Tests, according to Bath coach Todd Blackadder.

"Anthony Watson broke his jaw in the England training camp earlier this week," Blackadder confirmed. "It's too early for a full medical prognosis on how long he'll be out for, but it's likely he'll miss the Autumn Internationals.

"He's in great hands with our medical team, and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch when he's ready."

Wasps trio re-sign

Second row Kearnan Myall, scrum half Dan Robson and flanker Thomas Young have all re-signed with Wasps.

Wasps’ Director Rugby Dai Young added: “I’m really pleased that three more players have shown their commitment to Wasps and their belief in the potential of this squad. Dan, Kearnan and Thomas are talented players who also have a very strong work ethic. They’ve made a significant impact in the squad’s progression over the past couple of seasons and the exciting thing is, they still have a lot of potential to fulfil."

Kyle Sinckler commits to Harlequins

Harlequins can confirm today that tighthead prop Kyle Sinckler has re-signed with the Club.

The 23 year-old started for England’s XV side against the Barbarians in 2014 at Twickenham Stadium, before touring New Zealand that summer and playing in the mid-week team against the Crusaders.

He has made 85 appearances for the Club since his debut against Gloucester Rugby in 2011.

David Paice extends with London Irish

London Irish hooker David Paice has signed a two-year contract extension ahead of his 250th appearance for the club.

“It’s a great honour to be able to extend my stay with London Irish, a club that means so much to me,” said Paice, who played in the 2008 Heineken Cup final against Toulouse.   

“There are so many great people at London Irish and the club has given me so much down the years – I have many lifelong friends from my time here,” he added.

London Irish will go against London Welsh this Saturday.

Jersey Reds' Nick Selway disciplinary hearing

Nick Selway appeared before an RFU Disciplinary panel yesterday after being cited for a dangerous tackle during London Welsh vs Jersey Reds on Saturday October 1.

Selway pleaded not guilty and the charge was  dismissed

He is free to play with immediate effect. 

All Blacks team to face SA

In the forwards, lock Sam Whitelock moves from the bench to the starting five jersey, replacing Patrick Tuipulotu; loose forward Jerome Kaino is back in the six jersey, with Liam Squire moving to the replacements.

In the backs, wing Waisake Naholo returns to the matchday 23 replacing Julian Savea in the 11 jersey.

Former Aus 7s star Damon Murphy selected as referee

Former Australian Sevens representative, Damon Murphy is one of three referees who have been included in the World Rugby panels for the 2016-2017 HSBC Sevens Series for the Men’s and Women’s competitions.

Damon Murphy represented Australia in Sevens from 2004-2006 including on home turf at 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

He will be joined by leading Australian female Amy Perrett alongside a promising young talent in the refereeing ranks, Jordan Way.

Force sign Hardwick

The Western Force has signed local product Richard Hardwick for the 2017 Super Rugby season.

The 22-year-old made his Super Rugby debut in Round Six this year against the Highlanders and went on to play a further three games.

Wallabies team to face Argentina

Melbourne Rebels backrower Lopeti Timani comes in at number 8 with club teammate Sean McMahon out with an ankle injury.

It will be Timani's first start in the gold jersey after making his debut off the bench in Australia's 36-20 win over Argentina in Perth last month. 

In the other change to the starting fifteen, Brumbies lock Rory Arnold returns in place of Rob Simmons to partner Adam Coleman in the second row.

Springbok team to face All Blacks

Faf de Klerk and Damian de Allende were included in Springbok starting line-up to face the All Blacks in Durban on Saturday in the final Test of the 2016 Castle Lager Rugby Championship.

 

The two personnel changes are both due to injuries – scrumhalf De Klerk comes into the starting team again as a replacement for Rudy Paige, who suffered a concussion in the victory over the Wallabies in Pretoria, while De Allende replaces Jesse Kriel, who was ruled out of action as a result of his groin injury.
