GREGOR BROWN

Position: Back row/second row

Born in Aberdeen, Gregor Brown spent time in Nigeria and Egypt in his childhood before returning to the Granite City. A former Robert Gordon’s College pupil, he has featured for Gordonians and Boroughmuir Bears. Having been a stage three academy player with the club, Brown signed his first professional contract with Glasgow Warriors in 2022. Gregor was selected to train with the Scotland squad during the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

MATT CURRIE

Position: Centre/Wing

Matt Currie started playing rugby at Dumfries Saints RFC. He has also represented Merchiston Castle School and Super Series outfit Watsonians. He made his Edinburgh Rugby debut against Munster in 2021. This season, he has made 22 appearances for the club, scoring five tries including one against Glasgow Warriors at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in the 1872 Cup. A former Scotland U20 representative, Matt represented Scotland A against Chile on the 2022 Summer Tour.


PATRICK HARRISON

Position: Hooker
Age: 21
Club: Edinburgh Rugby

Patrick Harrison made his senior debut at his home club, Peebles RFC, shortly after his 17th birthday, and made his Edinburgh Rugby debut against Dragons at just 18, becoming the youngest hooker in the club’s history and their fourth-youngest debutant overall. He scored his first try for the club against Cardiff in October 2022. He scored eight tries in eight appearances in his Scotland U20 career, playing in two U20 Six Nations and a Summer Series.

WILL HURD

Qualifying through his grandmother from Larbert, Will Hurd made nine appearances for Scotland U20 in 2019. A former Cardiff Metropolitan University student, the prop was included in the 2020 BUCS Super Rugby team of the year. Hurd signed for Leicester Tigers in February 2021, making his debut two months later against Connacht in the Challenge Cup. He made 18 appearances across all competitions for Tigers this season. In January, he was called up to Scotland’s 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations squad, but withdrew due to injury.

EWAN JOHNSON

Ewan Johnson is a product of Parisian secondary school Fac d’Orsay, and was part of the Racing 92 academy. He made his senior Racing debut against Lyon in the Top 14 in September 2019. Ewan then spent three seasons at Vannes before joining Oyonnax for the 2023/24 season. The lock forward made 16 appearances in all competitions this season. Qualifying for Scotland through his father from Bathgate, he featured for Scotland U20 in 2018 and 2019.

NATHAN MCBETH

Nathan McBeth made four appearances for Scotland U20 in the 2018 U20 Six Nations. Born in Welkom, South Africa, he qualifies for Scotland through his grandfather who was born in Edinburgh. Previously an Emirates Lions player, the prop signed for Glasgow Warriors in October 2021, and made his debut against Benetton a month later. McBeth’s performances in the 2022/23 season saw him recognised with the club’s Mackenzie Construction Most Improved Player of the Season award..

ARRON REED

Arron Reed made his Sale Sharks debut in 2017 against Toulouse in the Challenge Cup and featured seven times across his debut season. The 24-year-old winger made four appearances for England U20 in 2019 across the Under-20 Six Nations and the World Rugby U20 Championship. Reed missed just one round of the Gallagher Premiership this season, and hit rich try-scoring form in November when he scored five tries in three matches. He qualifies for Scotland through his father, who was born in Linlithgow, and was called up to Scotland’s 2024 Guinness Men’s Six Nations squad.

ROBBIE SMITH

Position: Hooker
Age: 25
Club: Northampton Saints

Robbie Smith came through the Glasgow Warriors academy, and made his debut for the club against Ospreys in 2019. The Newton Stewart and Ayr RFC product signed his first professional contract with Bedford Blues in the English Championship. He then spent two seasons with Newcastle Falcons before joining Northampton Saints in 2022. He made six appearances in their 2023/24 Premiership-winning campaign, and also featured for them twice in the Champions Cup, including at Scotstoun against Glasgow. Robbie previously represented Scotland at U16, U18 and U20 level.

GUS WARR

Position: Scrum-half
Age: 24
Club: Sale Sharks

Gus Warr moved to Dollar Academy for his final year of school, and went on to represent Scotland at U18, U19 and U20 level. The scrum-half made his Sale Sharks debut against Harlequins in 2018, and featured in the semi-final and final as the club were Premiership runners-up  in the 2022/23 season. He made 25 appearances for the club this season, scoring three tries. He qualifies for Scotland through his mother from Strathaven.

MAX WILLIAMSON

Age: 22
Club: Glasgow Warriors

Max Williamson made his Glasgow Warriors debut at home to Benetton in November 2023. He has gone on to feature for the club 19 times so far this season, scoring twice. The former Dollar Academy and Stirling Wolves lock made 14 appearances for Scotland U20 across two seasons, scoring once. He has previously been involved in Scotland squads, first an apprentice player in 2021 and then again in 2024.
