- 1211
The Lions recorded their first ever away win over the Jaguares as they ground out a 25-16 victory in the opening round of Super Rugby. The Lions went over for an early try, but the Jaguares hit back, with a try sandwiched between two penalties to lead 13-5. The Lions responded with a penalty before crossing for their second try to take a slender 15-13 advantage into the halftime break after a sea-saw first half. The Lions struck first in the second half, crossing for their third try to give themselves some breathing room at 22-13. The hosts pulled three points back with a penalty heading into the final quarter of the match. However, the Lions kicked a penalty of their own with ten minutes to play to make it a two score ball game. The Jaguares threw everything they had at the Lions, but were kept out by some outstanding defence as the visitors earned a hard fought away win.
