The Hurricanes then picked up a yellow card and it went from bad to worse for the visitors as the Chiefs capitalized immediately with another try seeing them take control of the match leading 24-14 heading into the final quarter. The Hurricanes stopped the bleeding with a penalty shortly after to make it a seven point ball game. The Hurricanes then ran in their third try to level things up at 24-24 with ten minutes to play and set up an intense finish. With the match destined for a draw, the Hurricanes worked it through over 30 phases without making much headway until the valiant Chiefs defence finally infringed allowing the visitors to slot the penalty well after the siren to seal a dramatic victory.
