Reports from Japan suggest that All Black legend Dan Carter is set to finish out his career in Japan with the Kobelco Steelers.
French publication Midi Olympique announced that the current Racing 92 fly-half will leave Paris to take up a lucrative offer in the Japanese Top League.
The 35-year-old is in his final year of his €1.5m a year deal and is set to link up with his former Crusaders teammate Andy Ellis, who is playing in Kobe.
Kobelco also has a relationship with 'The Professor' Wayne Smith, a former coach with both New Zealand and the Crusaders, they are sponsored by Adidas, a company in which Carter has a long association with.
Carter left New Zealand after leading the All Blacks to a second successive World Cup triumph in 2015 and guided Racing 92 to the French TOP14 title in 2016.
Last week, the 112-test veteran travelled to Japan to fulfil sponsorship duties with MasterCard, whom Carter is an ambassador for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Having previously declared that he will one day return home to New Zealand following his illustrious career playing rugby, Carter is set for a final pay-day in East Asia.
'' I'm kind of going through those thoughts at the moment - whether I stay or whether I look at other opportunities '' Carter told Radio Sport last month.
