Some talking points ahead of this weekends Six Nations games
- 2022
Can Wales end Ireland’s Grand Slam dreams?
Ireland travel to the Millennium Stadium on Saturday looking to make it four wins from four as they go in search of only their third ever Grand Slam. They take on a Wales side who have responded well from their defeat to England, winning tough away games against Scotland and France. Cardiff has been good to Ireland in recent years and few Irish fans will forget 2009, when Ronan O’Gara secured Ireland the Grand Slam with a late drop-goal.
Can Italy secure another win over France?
After picking up an unlikely win over Scotland in Murrayfield Italy now entertain France this weekend looking to cause another upset. They take on a French side who are very short on confidence after three disappointing displays in the tournament. The Italians have fared well against France in recent years picking up two wins in the last two games played in Italy and they will look to make it three from three when they meet each other this weekend.
Who will secure the Calcutta Cup?
England take on Scotland on Saturday in the Calcutta Cup with Scotland looking for their first win over England in seven years. After losing to Ireland two weeks ago, England will look to respond with a win over Scotland and keep themselves in the running for the championship. As for Scotland they were beaten late on by the Italians and there will be pressure on Vern Cotter to pick up a win in their final two games as they look to avoid the wooden spoon.
