Semi Radradra set for Flying Fijian debut

Toulon winger Semi Radradra is one step closer to competing in next year’s World Cup after being included in the Flying Fijian squad for the 2018 Pacific Nations Cup.
The former rugby league star who represented the Kangaroos once in 2016, has been in coach John McKee’s sights ever since switching to the French Top 14, where he’s been an instant hit at Toulon.
“He hit the ground running at Toulon,” McKee told foxsports.com.au in February.
“He started well from the get-go.
“He showed his experience from playing rugby union previously in Fiji.
“He understands the game and he’s been playing well up there at 13 and on the wing, which to me is quite interesting because we’ve got a lot of very good wingers and it’s hard to fit them all in the team, but 13 is a spot which is a little bit more (open).”
Fiji will play Pacific neighbours Tonga and Samoa in June, as well as Georgia during the June Tests.
Radradra, who made his international debut for Fiji in sevens rugby in 2011, has also put his hand up to play for Fiji in July’s Rugby Sevens World Cup in San Francisco.
“With less than 18 months to RWC 2019 this June Test Series is very challenging and important for us in both terms of Fiji’s standing as the top Tier 2 Nation and with an eye towards our preparation for RWC 2019,” McKee said.
“As good as some of our match performance was in 2017 we need to be better in 2018. Our performance levels must build towards 2019 to put us in the best position to have a successful RWC.”
