Harlequins is delighted to announce Sam Riley has committed his future to the Club.
The 23-year-old academy product has put pen to paper on fresh terms to extend his eight years at the Club.
Riley first joined the Harlequins Academy at 15 years old and went on to captain the Under-18 side, before graduating into the senior setup prior to the 2019/20 season.
Fast forward to 2024, the hooker has made 56 appearances in the Quarters and last season featured for England ‘A’ against Portugal at Welford Road.
Notably, Riley scored a crucial late try against Glasgow Warriors last season to complete a thrilling comeback (28-24) in the knockout stages of the Investec Champions Cup at The Stoop.
“I’ve been here since I was 15, so it was an easy decision for me to extend my contract. I’ve really enjoyed the last few seasons and I’m excited for what’s to come,” said Riley
“It’s a big jump from the Academy into the senior setup, but the coaches give you all the tools to make it possible. They drip feed you into the training, scrums, lineouts but the onus is on you to work on your skills to make sure you’re ready take the opportunity.
“The competition we have in the squad is great - it pushes each of us on. You don’t know who is going to get the nod, so you have to bring you’re A-game every week and ultimately that’s going to help us improve.”
Head Coach, Danny Wilson added: “We’re delighted Sam has committed his future to the Club.
“Sam is a respected member of our squad, who pushes himself every day to improve and he has a good level of senior experience at the Club, with over 50 appearances to his name already.
“We look forward to seeing how Sam continues to develop and perform in a Quins shirt for seasons to come.”
