Northampton Saints outside back Tom Collins appeared before an independent disciplinary panel in Coventry on Wednesday evening.
Collins was shown a red card by referee Matthew Carley in the 65th minute of the match between Wasps and Northampton Saints on Sunday 5 January 2020.
This was for tackling the jumper in the air, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.17
Collins accepted the charge and was given a two-week suspension by the independent panel comprising Matthew Weaver (chair) with Mitch Read and Ruth Middleton.
Collins is free to play again on 21 January 2020 and misses Rounds 5 & 6 in Europe where he will miss the clash with Benetton and Lyon.
Independent panel chair Matthew Weaver said: “The Panel found that the Player’s actions were reckless in that he failed in his duty to protect the Player in the air. They accepted that there was no intent to cause any harm and the Player was immediately remorseful for the injury sustained by Jacob Umaga.
No worries mate, part of the game! Glad you’re all good too https://t.co/nTQuQCJeIR

"The Panel found that this was a low end entry point of 4 weeks and that the Player was allowed the maximum mitigation of 50% due to his acceptance of the charge, his clean record and immediate and genuine remorse."
