RD 6 HIGHLIGHTS | Southland v Taranaki (Mitre 10 Cup 2020)

Week 6 got underway at the Rugby Park stadium between Southland and Taranaki. Both teams comes off consecutive losses and hoped to secure victory. The game got off to a quiet and evenly paced start with both teams being dominant. O'Neill got Taranaki on the board in the 12th minute with Potroz converting it. Southland only managed to get on the board in the 20th minute with a Eade penalty kick. P. Latu was replaced in the 22nd minute due to a knee injury but was sent also for a HIA. Eade brought the game to just one point difference in the 37th minute. To add drama to the half, Potroz late Penalty kick went against the post to leave the game at a one point difference. Eade immediately scored from the restart for Southland with a three pointer. Potroz replied minutes later with a penalty kick aswell. Kneepkens scored a beautiful try in the 58th minute to extend the lead of Taranaki. Gawler was sent to the bin in the 66th minute for a shoulder charge. Taranaki continued to dominate the game and Dyer missed a 79th minute penalty to lose the game.
