Vannes and Oyonnax kicked the round off at Stade de la Rabine with the latter posting a strong, 23-6 victory after dotting down a brace of tries.
Friday’s encounters commenced with Carcassonne enjoying a narrow 26-22 victory over Bourg en Bresse at Stade Marcel-Verchère. Bourg en Brasse managed to put a total of three tries on the board to Carcassonne’s two.
Colomiers turned the screws on Montauban, 41-14, the former’s effort of four tries earning them a bonus point. Montauban shot themselves in the foot with a red card in the 23rd minute, though the performance that Colomiers put together suggested that they would probably have taken the game in any event.
Provence snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Rouen when Massip missed the conversion of his own try in the 80th minute which kept the score at 22-21 in Rouen’s favour. Provence managed to tries to Rouen’s one but the former’s discipline ultimately let them down as Rouen were ale to slot five penalties. Final score: 22-21.
Agen’s woes continued as they crashed to a 43-8 loss to Mont-de-Marsan in a one-sided affair at Stade Guy Boniface.
Aurillac breathed a sigh of relief at the final whistle after they managed a 30-26 victory over Narbonne while things were slightly more one-sided at Stade Raoul-Barrière as Beziers saw off Nevers 25-7.
Finally, a tough, low-scoring game saw Bayonne emerge victorious against Grenoble at Stade des Alpes. Final score: 18-13.
