The Bristol Bears held on for a 16-12 home win over defending champions Saracens in round 14 of the Premiership. Saracens opened the scoring with two early penalties to build a 6-0 lead, but Bristol kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties of their own as the sides headed into the halftime break deadlocked at 6-6. The arm wrestle continued in the second half, with Saracens slotting an early penalty, but that was cancelled out shortly after by Bristols third to make it 9-9. Saracens added a fourth penalty with 15 minutes to play to edge ahead 12-9. With four minutes left on the clock Bristol were awarded a penalty try to lead for the first time in the match, with Saracens also picking up a yellow card in the process to finish the game with 14 players. Saracens had a chance at the death to snatch victory, with Bristol also picking up a late yellow card, but it was not to be as the hosts moved up to second position in the Premiership.
