Performance of the Day

Any team that scores eighty-two points in a game cannot be overlooked for the accolade of performers of the day. Wasps scored twelve tries in their thumping of Italian side Zebre. The vast majority of their five-pointers came from their elusive backline, which played with great flair whilst employing their highly expansive gameplan.
They started the game as they meant to go on as Rob Miller went over after three minutes, following some intricate play from standout performers Danny Cipriani and Elliot Daly. Cipriani went on to make the first half all his own setting up a number of scores for Simpson, Halai and Miller once again. The Wasps forwards weren’t simply content to take the backseat however as Jake Cooper-Wooley and Ashley Johnson powered over for scores.
The second half was much of the same for the home side, as they ran in six more tries which were unanswered by their Italian opponents. The tries were mainly scored out wide through Elliot Daly, Josh Bassett, Joe Simpson and Dan Robson. However, tight forwards Joe Launchbury and James Gaskell also managed to go over from close range.
Standout players for Wasps today were Man of the Match Danny Cipriani, who created chance after chance for his side, Joe Simpson, who was an ever-present threat around the ruck, and Elliot Daly, who both got over for his own score and created space for his outside backs out wide.
