Leatigaga joins the Waratahs on an injury cover contract for Angus Bell, who suffered a season ending toe injury during the team's round one clash with the Brumbies.
Leatigaga brings a wealth of European experience to the Waratahs, having made over 70 appearances for Leicester Tigers in his four seasons at the club and stints at Biarritz in France and Piacenza in Italy.
The 29-year-old has also represented Samoa at both Under-20 and senior levels (6 Test caps), and his size and power make him a formidable presence in the front row.
Speaking about the signing, Waratahs Head Coach Darren Coleman said, "We're thrilled to have Nephi join us at the Waratahs. He's a quality player with plenty of experience, and his size and strength will be a real asset to us.
“With Angus out injured, we needed to bring in someone who had the runs on the board to give us a stable scrum & maul, and Nephi fits the bill perfectly. He's a solid addition to our squad."
Leatigaga is excited to be joining the Waratahs and is looking forward to helping the team in the run to the finals.
"I'm grateful for this opportunity to play for the Waratahs and I'm looking forward to working with the team. I know there's a lot of hard work ahead, but I'm ready for the challenge and I can't wait to get started," Leatigaga said.
Leatigaga be available for selection for the Waratahs' upcoming game against the Blues this Saturday.
