Mitre 10 Cup Round Three Highlights: Counties Manukau v Waikato

Waikato held on for a 31-26 away win over Counties Manukau in round 3 of the Premiership. Waikato crossed for three first half tries to one to take a 21-7 lead into the halftime break. An early second half try for Waikato was followed by a penalty as the visitors surged into a commanding 31-7 heading into the final quarter. The Counties response began as they ran in two tries in ten minutes to reduce the deficit to 31-19. With three minutes to play a fourth Counties try gave the hosts hope of a famous come back, but they would fall just short as Waikato held on for their second victory in three matches.
