Louis Rees Zammit's try-saving fist helps Gloucester to derby victory
- 2170
Louis Rees-Zammit and Adam Hastings were the derby day heroes for Gloucester on Saturday as they claimed a narrow 31-28 victory over Bristol Bears.
With the game in the balance, Hastings nailed the match-winning penalty to secure the win but the Cherry & Whites can thank the never say die attitude of Rees-Zammit for keeping them in the game.
The winger came up with an extraordinary defensive play as he denied Dan Thomas a certain try.
Charles Piutau sliced through Gloucester's defence and linked up with Thomas as the flanker sped away to the try line.
However, Rees-Zammit ate up ground before dislodging the ball out of the hands of Thomas by swinging his fist and hitting the ball just before he was about to dive.
