Leo Cullen pleased with win and sees room for improvement

James Lowe scored a try in each half as magnificent Leinster reached the European Champions Cup final with a 40-17 defeat of holders Toulouse at a raucous Aviva Stadium.

Johnny Sexton pulled the strings and scored 15 points in an influential display as Leo Cullen's side, who scored four tries, kept themselves in the hunt to match Toulouse's record tally of being crowned European champions for a fifth time in Marseille. 

Speaking after the match, Leinster head coach Leo Cullen acknowledged there is still scope for growth within his side.

After watching his charges close out an impressive victory, Cullen said:

“Credit to the lads, there was lots of really good stuff in the game. They threw the kitchen sink at them, but Toulouse, they hung in and hung in,” he said.

“They’re always a constant threat. You can see that in the first half, where we’re attacking in their 22, we lose possession and they’re gone the length of the field (for Dupont’s score). That constant threat was there the whole time.

"I thought it was a good performance overall. There's still room for growth as always, but to deliver a big performance in a semi-final, it's pleasing."

Leinster will meet the winners of the Racing 92 versus La Rochelle semi-final on Sunday.
