Leicester wait for Wasps at Welford Road
- 1041
After a loss to Harlequins in Round 9, Leicester will regroup at Welford Road in anticipation of Wasps’ arrival.
Although they ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard, Leicester put on a good display against Quins. The game seemed evenly matched despite the final score and the Tigers showed that they still have some real fight in them.
Wasps eked out a 17-13 victory against Worcester Warriors at Sixways last round. Lee Blackett’s men ran in their two tries in the first half before taking their foot off the gas somewhat in the second, thus allowing Warriors to creep back into the game.
Quins’ victory in the last round took them to number 4 spot on the overall standings, four points ahead of Wasps, and the latter will be hungry to use this game as a stepping stone from which to launch themselves into the top 4.
Leicester currently hold ninth spot on the table, just one point behind Newcastle, but showed last week that they have some steel in their spines that Wasps should be wary of, although, last time they met, Wasps administered a merciless beating on the Tigers, the final whistle sounding with the score at 54-7.
